Julia Jessen is a German designer working at the intersection of applied design, material culture, and conceptual practice. As co-founder of Schneid Studio, she has developed a body of work that engages critically with form, function, and ethics - particularly within the domains of lighting, furniture, and object design. Her practice is informed by a deep interest in the sociopolitical dimensions of design, with a focus on sustainable material processes, modularity, and the aesthetic framing of transformation.

Julia Jessen’s approach is rooted in interdisciplinarity, oscillating between industrial production and artistic inquiry. Her work has been recognized with several national awards (including the German Design Award) and featured in major design publications (Wallpaper*, AD, Sight Unseen). She has exhibited internationally at platforms such as ICFF New York, IMM Cologne, and the Wilhelm Wagenfeld Foundation. Her current trajectory explores critical and post-disciplinary frameworks for design as a reflective and situated cultural practice.
